Daily's Digestine™ (Reams Original) provides a broad spectrum of digestive enzymes. One tablet provides: Mycozyme 150 mg, Pancreatin 140 mg, Papain 70 mg, Acid Stable Protease 70 mg, Betaine HCl 70 mg, & Iron Bile Salts 65 mg (bovine). The pancreatin is enteric coated for release in the small intestine (that will not release with pH below 6.8), thereby preventing denaturation of the active enzyme. In other words, we have coated the pancreatin so that it will not dissolve until it gets into the small intestine.
Ingredients Include:
Mycozyme: is a multi-enzyme that is especially beneficial for digesting starches and related carbohydrates.
Pancreatin: is a naturally occurring mixture of digestive enzymes obtained from bovine pancreatic secretions. Pancreatin has been shown to be highly effective for improving digestion of proteins and fats in patients who have impaired digestion due to
pancreatic surgery(1).
Papain: is a natural protein digesting enzyme found in papaya. Papain is such an effective protein digestive enzyme that it is used as a meat tenderizer. Papain helps to break hard to digest proteins that might cause allergic reactions or stimulate growth of harmful
bacteria in the gut that can cause many physiological and mental health problems. Papain has been used in combination with other enzymes and was shown to help in recovery from intensive exercise (2).
Acid Stable Protease: is a stable fungal derived protease that is resistant to stomach acid and able to digest proteins under adverse intestinal conditions. Betaine Hydrochloride: Many people suffer from inadequate hydrochloric acid secretion in the stomach
(achlorhydria). Achlorhydria impairs digestion of proteins due to non activation of endogenous protein digesting enzymes (3). It can also result in too little acidity in the small intestine which can cause small intestinal bacteria overgrowth (SIBO).Betaine HCL: helps to restore normal pH balance in the stomach and intestines (3).
Iron Bile Salts: Bile salts are normally made by the liver and released by the gall bladder. However, inadequate production or release of bile salts can seriously impair the digestion of fats and fat-soluble vitamins.
